I don't think I'm the first to question the need to separate work and life. And less in these times where many people still work from home. Some even "forever." The truth is that working is part of our day to day and should be more than a means of making a living. Some of us are lucky enough to enjoy working and to fulfill ourselves by doing it. This is why we must understand that the moments in which we work and those in which we enjoy time with ourselves or with our loved ones, blur and can generate confusion, increasing our stress. We must learn to intersperse work with leisure throughout the day. We must know when to disconnect to maintain the desired well-being and recharge energy. Time management is different now. We must continue to seek happiness and well-being and in that task, the time we dedicate to everything we do during the week is determined by ourselves, as long as we do not generate conflict with our partners and children. A person can enjoy working non-stop, but if their family members feel abandoned we can have a problem and without a doubt we will generate conflict and stress. Other people will find the stress and conflict of having to spend a lot of time in meaningless, perhaps monotonous, or overly demanding work when they would rather enjoy leisure and company. I have filled this article with "shoulds" and this can also add to our stress. We must try to make changes that make us feel good about managing time and we have to make those changes step by step, being compassionate with ourselves and not letting the tyranny of the should block us. You must take care.
