Increasing globalization makes diversity and inclusion a real necessity. Many studies show that building inclusive culture organizations increase productivity either directly or indirectly. These inclusive organizations are built by addressing gender, sexual, social, and cultural diversity in workforces and talent pools.
Diversity is something innate in the human being, each person is unique in the world and is transmitted socially in a natural way. Companies are a reflection of our society and it is increasingly diverse and inclusive, which is why good management of diversity is essential. The globalization of companies, such as multinationals, forces us to implement actions so that all people and cultures can live together and be productive. The key may lie in respect for people who are not the same as us, taking into account and valuing the talent of each one.
Social belonging is a human need. According to a Harvard Business Review study (The Value of Belonging at Work, 2019), 40% of people feel isolated at work, resulting in less commitment to the company, which translates into low productivity and higher cost. . Feeling like a person included, not judged, respected, valued, understood and safe favors a good working environment. Assessing, analyzing, and listening to individual needs and culture is critical to achieving adaptation.
The incipient struggles for gender equality, the growth of the LGTBIQ+ collective, the increase in the insertion of people with different abilities, etc., drive this change in our society. Diversity and inclusion are a social reality. Contemplating this need is not enough, actions must be implemented to achieve opportunities from these differences.
