Increasingly, we are concerned with our well-being, especially physical health. This leads us to carry out healthy behaviors such as: taking care of our diet, playing sports, we go to the doctor, etc. All this to lead a healthy life for fear of suffering a serious physical illness but ... what about mental health? Do we take care of our mental health? Do we really care about it?
Generally, we go to the psychologist when we are faced with a borderline situation, or in other words, when we are suffering the consequences or effects of a complicated and prolonged period of time. Perhaps this decision is made, in the hope that everything will be resolved and not being aware of the possible consequences for our mental health, because they simply "are streaks" until we finally cannot get out of those "streaks", leading to unnecessary suffering .
So it is with our damaging attempt to resolve our conflicts. We spend hours worrying about a multitude of issues, and even letting ourselves be carried away by our emotions, instead of taking action and dedicating that time to solving them. This can lead to a lack of enjoyment of the present moment, along with constant suffering and finally, the inadequate resolution of the problem or even, that it is not solved and more problems are generated.
Mental health promotion tries to solve this problem so that people are not victims of the effects of emotional mismanagement or inadequate conflict resolution. Therefore, what can we do to take care of our mental health ?:
- Practice physical exercise often.
- Sleep hygiene.
- To eat a balanced diet.
- Having time for ourselves.
- Take care of our social relationships.
- Knowing how to disconnect and live in the present moment.
- Have a constructive and positive attitude.
- Let's learn to feel our emotions and identify them, but not let ourselves be carried away by them, avoiding unnecessary suffering and, therefore, improving conflict resolution.
- See a psychologist if we feel that we do not know how to resolve our conflicts or to feel better about ourselves and our life.
